About the Teachers

 Daniel Thomas will be the primary instructor. He is a high school senior and has been homeschooled his entire life. He has greatly enjoyed participating in speech and debate and has a passion for sharing what he's learned with others. He has learned and developed his skills through:

- Participation in NCFCA team policy debate for four years so far – receiving instruction, coaching, tips and feedback from experienced coaches, parents, judges, and fellow debaters from across the nation.
- Teaching and coaching team policy debate for the last three years

His debate achievements include:

- Significant tournament experience and consistently high placing at the local, state, regional, and national levels including 2nd place in North Carolina in 2010, 1st place in Maryland and North Carolina in 2012, 4 Regional Appearances, 1st place twice in Region IX in 2011 and 2012, 3 National appearances, and 7th place in the nation in 2011.
- Speaker awards every year including 1st in NC, 1st in Maryland, 7th in Regionals.

His speech achievements include:

Gavel Club Toastmaster
Multiple awards in Apologetics, Impromptu, Biographical Narrative, and Humorous Interpretation at the state and regional level

Assisting Instructors

Joel Thomas: Joel Thomas is a third-year debater who has participated in more than 50 debate rounds. He has won numerous speech awards at the local, state, regional, and national level. Selective achievements include:

15th in Humorous Interpretation in the nation.
1st in Biographical Narrative in North Carolina, Quarterfinals in the nation.
Multiple awards in Open Interpretation, Impromptu, Dramatic Interpretation and experience with almost every speech event.

Philip Thomas will also instruct and coach. He participated in speech and debate through high school and has been judging NCFCA team policy debate at all tournament levels, including nationals, for the past four years. He will focus on judge and ballot analysis, teaching debaters how to make their case to a judge and how to learn from judges' comments.
